Surfing the Diary Sheets

I can clearly see now that I had been badly mistaken in my hope that a week of 'still knowing each other' is just something normal. But sadly say, it's not. I don't say I am in love with him. I mean, not yet. Yes. Like. Sort of. That feeling - as impossible as it seemed. How can I feel so strongly about him in such a short amount of time? I don't have the answer. 'Granted, if I met him earlier, I mean a year before, we probably are seeing each other now. Err! This is insane! How can after a week, I'd be so ready to spend the rest of my life with him? Hah?' Monologue. Yes, I've tried to analyze the situation, to see if I am in the throes of infatuation. He is smart, kind and funny. He is warm to his friends and family, yet no tendency to flirt with just about everyone. Okay? How can you be so sure, Sheriel Aizan? You can have it all

I know my last post was a month ago and I’m endeavoring to write so many things in my mind, yet been hectic with works, in office and home. Speaking about spoon-feeding myself, it’s way too remote to accomplish. Supposedly, I set everything down and walk off for a movie once a week. *sigh But, it’s something unworkable these days. Uh, well here is something I am going to disgorge. I went to two weddings last week and at the end of this month, will be a photographer for my sister’s friend’s wedding. Those remarkable things attending this somewhat ceremony are the happiness on everyone’s face, more than ever the bride and groom; people eat free lunch at the same time as watching the couple sprinkled by both parents and there are gifts for people as well. Seeing that a wedding costs thousand bucks to treat everyone who comes to celebrate the married pair, I wonder how things are going with divorce. A wedding could take many years to plan. I have a friend, who’s at my age, started putt...

Abah's Retirement True Story

-
Abah has finally retired. We had been listening to his yens some years ago, especially when he came home from work, lethargic, emotionally disturbed and felt very much like John Wick deadly seeking vengeance. We could not comfort him and his frustration. He used to tell us how blue his blood was, as blue as PDRM color. He loved his profession. He was proud wearing his uniform. March this year, the day finally came. He sought for no one’s approval to enjoy the entitlement. It was a compulsory retirement. He could no longer proceed after his 60’s. Guess what was the first thing he did – leaving the office Whatsapp group. We had a great laugh that night and until today that moment is still fresh in my memory. For good, in May, Abah and Mama had gone back to Kedah living those hours they couldn’t spend before. They held each other’s hands more often without any distraction, not even us. My siblings and I are still struggling to adapt with our new routines withou...
